Not much progress happening on Gemsinger...

At the moment I'm taking a break from RPG Maker, so progress is slow going. However, I am hoping progress will pick up during the holidays.

And I don't want to leave you guys with nothing, so here's a screenshot of the Sayamir Caverns!

Will a demo ever be released?

The answer is simply...

I really don't know yet.

I was thinking of making a demo for Gemsinger Chronicles: The Video Game. However there's still much more I need to do before a demo is ready. I have many incomplete and unmade sidequests. I want to be able to get the Halliwen sidequest developed and the underwater sea sidequest finished. I also need to start upgrading the scenes and do some tinkering with the battle system. I also want to get more gameplay before a demo is released.

My goal is to finish the Ice Sigil and get the Fire and Wind Sigils done as well. Then a demo will be made. Progress is increasing on that. I have to finish the Isilia Mountains and make the Ice area (Unnamed Ice Dungeon) so that the Ice Sigil will be complete. Then I can move onto Fire and Wind. (I have something special for those two. However I won't spoil that yet)

After that I will have done 5/8 of the main quest completed. (8 gems, and I would've had 5 out of 8 gems)

Then I will most likely have a demo ready. However, this won't be something that will be released in a day. It will take quite a while for this to be ready.

So stay tuned for Video Game updates.

What is the underwater? I won't say much about it in this post, but you will find out more in another blog post and in an upcoming youtube video.

Gemsinger has finally been moving along again. I'm quite happy with all the work I did. I'm planning on improving some of my dungeons, and I am also working on mapping new towns and making events.

Here are a few screenshots for you to look at.
Click on the images to enlarge them.

And that's all. I'm planning on writing more in the blog because I don't want it to get dusty. If you have any ideas of what I could post to this blog feel free to notify me.

I may actually start writing about features again like I did in the past.

Gemsinger Project R returns!

We all loved this draft. I got so far on it. I got all the way to Kythria Island, and just threw it away. I played through the game again. I made 1 hour+ of gameplay, I don't want all that hard work to go to waste

So I shall return to Gemsinger R. Now here's a screenshot for your viewing pleasure

Gemsinger Chronicles S: The Battle Arena

Oh my! A portion of a Gemsinger Magazine has been leaked! In this picture we see there is a new feature in the game called the Battle Arena! (click on the image to enlarge it)

Okay, I tried to make a magazine clip image like a Coro Coro scan of some sort. It didn't really turn out well, and my art for Miresa was terrible. But the point of this is to announce that there will be a new feature for after you complete the game. You will be able to visit the battle arena after getting the battle pass. (An item that you receive after beating the main story of the game) I will try to make it so that after you beat the game, you'll still have many places to visit and side-quests to do. The Battle Arena is one of the activities you will be able to do after beating the main story. I'm still working on the main story, and the side-quests and other optional things will be worked on when I get temporarily tired of working on the main game. This way, I will make progress in the game even if I'm not working on the main story. I will make sure that this blog gets updated every once in a while so that you can stay updated on the video game.

Gemsinger Chronicles: Project S

Okay, so now that Gemsinger Chronicles has lifted off in another draft, I have dubbed this draft "Project S". If you're wondering why it's called "S" is because when I save my projects, I want to be able to know which draft is which. So, each draft has it's own letter so I can sort them. I'll list all the Gemsinger drafts.

Gemsinger Chronicles O - This was the very first project of Gemsinger. In other words, the "Original".
Gemsinger Chronicles X - This was the second draft of Gemsinger where I had all those neat weather effects and I had just discovered the side view battle system.
Gemsinger Chronicles R - This is the draft most people are familiar with. This draft was the one that was worked on the most. It was the latest draft that went all the way up to Kythria Island. The blog posts before this one were about Gemsinger Project "R".
Gemsinger Chronicles S - The "newborn", current one I am working on.

Also, I said I was going to explain the battle system, but in reality, there's nothing really to explain. Basically, it's still the same battle system as Project R's was except it has ATB (Active Time Battle) on it to make it more livelier. Basically you and your enemies now have timers on them that have to fill up before they can attack. (However you and your enemies will only get one attack per turn as usual, so you will have the time to strategize before you make your move. Your enemies won't attack until you do during your turn, so don't worry about enemies getting as many free moves as they want.)

Also, I have more news. The "World Map" system has been taken out. Don't worry, you will still have teleportation crystals to take you across Shokiyu. However, this project is new! So I might bring back the World Map system. There's still a lot I might do with Project S. So stay tuned to the blog and more posts will be coming your way!

Gemsinger: The Video Game Geography

Here's a few screen shots of the cities and areas of Gemsinger Chronicles: The Video Game.

Telrain:
Music: Far Asian Fantasia - Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires
Description: A town not too far from the Forest of Dawn.

Training Woods:
Music: Final Maze - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness
Description: A small forest near Telrain where young apprentices train to get stronger.
Comments: As this place has little importance and is only used once in the game, access to this place may be taken away and replaced with something more important later in the game.

Forest of Dawn:
Music: The Tumultuous Mountain - Tales of Vesperia
Description: A large forest that connects Selance and Telrain. To travel between the two cities, you must pass through this large and enemy filled forest.

Selance:
Music: Visiting Happiness - Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires
Description: The capital of the East Continent. This is where the King and Queen reside (Although the king is missing at the moment).
Comments: This is where you will start many quests. You'll find yourself visiting this place more and more as you go through the game.

Fort Indigo:
Music: The Daily Routine of a Selfish Young Man - Tales of Vesperia
Description: This is the outpost between Selance and Brightleaf. This is where adventurers stop at. The large inn is the perfect place to rest after a long journey.
Comments: There is a mage with a teleport crystal that you can use to get to Telrain without having to pass through the Forest of Dawn.

Brightleaf:
Music: Seasons of China Black Warrior - Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires
Description: This mellow and sad town has a reason for all the despair. Monsters have been invading the village from the chaos caused by the disruption of the Gaia Emerald. The mayor has cowered in his building and the people are too afraid to fight against the monsters. Perhaps a hero will arise somewhere and save this troubled village.
Comments: Buy a Vorpal Sword for Bradlin at the shop. It will help against bosses soon to come in the game.

Earthly Crags:
Music: Dancing with Tokage - Chrono Cross
Description: This large Earth dungeon is where the Earth shrine is located. It is large and crawling with enemies.
Comments: Fight all mimics in this dungeon if you wish to fight the Earth Goddess.

Earth Shrine:
Music: Forest - Rpg Maker 1
Description: This is the shrine where the Earth Goddess and the Gaia Emerald are located. Need I say more?

Kythiria Island:
Music: Dragon Roost Island - Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker
Description: This is an island not too far from the Earthly Crags. Rumor has it that the Ocean Sapphire nears.

Kythrian Cave:
Music: Water Prison - Ys Origin
Description: This is a small cavern in Kythiria where some secrets await the heroes.

Comments: Miresa learns her water spell here.
